Read-a-thon Updates

I'm condensing all my updates for the Spring into Summer read-a-thon in this one post :)

Update #1 (2:00 PM my time)

Total Books Read: 1
Total Pages Read: 198
Total Time Read: 4 hours
This is my first update :)  I'm having a blast sitting aroun doing nothing but reading, but I have to run to my Gramma's now to help her make dinner.  It'll be nice to take a little break.

By the way, the book I finished was Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri, and it was awesome.

Spring into Summer Read-a-thon starts today!

The Spring into Summer Read-a-thon, hosted by SqueakyBooks, starts for me in just a few minutes.  I'm really excited to have an excuse to do practically nothing but read for 36 hours.  I do need to stop by my Gramma's house for a few hours to make her dinner, and possibly on Saturday morning too to make her lunch, but besides that, I have no other obligations, which means that I should be able to get in quite a bit of reading.

I have a pile of books that are just waiting to be read.  I probably won't get through them all, but I'd like to finish at least 2 or 3.  Here they are:

Interpreter of Maladies
Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri

Rêves amers
Reves amers by Maryse Condé (this one is in French)

Flight: A Novel
Flight by Sherman Alexie

The Hound of the Baskervilles (Sherlock Holmes Vol. 5)
The Hound of the Baskervilles by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle

The Big Snow
The Big Snow by David Park

So there's the list.  All but the last one are on my challenges.  I can't wait to start reading!  I'll probably post about 2 updates both today and tomorrow, depending.  I don't want my blogging to take away from my reading time.  I'm going to condense all updates into one post because I don't want to clog up anyone's reader :)

Spring into Summer Read-a-thon!

It is the perfect time for a read-a-thon, and since I have no plans for June 17th and 18th, I've decided to sign up for the Spring into Summer Read-a-thon hosted by Enna Isilee of Squeaky Books!

I plan on reading a few books that have been sitting around my room for a while that I just haven't had a chance to read.  It's going to be fun!
My reading plan:
I plan to participate on: BOTH DAYS (hopefully quite a few hours both days!)
I plan to read: At least 2 books, but hopefully 3
I hope to read: A few books from the challenges on my "Challenges" page that I haven't gotten to yet.

Read Your Own Books Read-A-Thon

Monica at The Bibliophilic Book Blog is hosting a Read Your Own Books Read-A-Thon!  As the title of the read-a-thon states, you read only books you own/have bought (that means no review copies, gifts, loaners, etc!).  I've decided to participate in my first read-a-thon as a blogger (I've done my own little read-a-thons with my sister, just never through this blog).  The read-a-thon is set to start at 9am on Friday the 13th and end at 9am on Monday the 16th of August.  If you would like to sign up for the read-a-thon, please visit Monica's read-a-thon page at her blog.

I probably won't be reading the entire weekend, as that's the weekend my twin sister leaves for her 5 months abroad in France.  But I will DEFINITELY be reading all day and night after she leaves, as a way to distance myself from the reality of her departure!  I know I shouldn't be so sad over her leaving, as I left her last year to study in France....but it's different when you're the one staying at home!

I've been going through my books, coming up with a list of books to keep with me for the read-a-thon.  Here's what I've decided on:

The Singing by Alison Croggon, The Jungle by Upton Sinclair (which I've had one my shelf for years but haven't picked up to read!), the two books I bought this past week: Flight by Sherman Alexie and House Made of Dawn by N. Scott Momaday, and then if I feel like reading in French: Compère général Soleil by Jacques Stephen Alexie.

I'll be updating throughout the read-a-thon through Twitter (my name is tomgirl571 on there) and through this blog.
