Hop + Guest Post at The Book on the Hill!

Book Blogger Hop
It's finally Friday again!  I can't wait to get through my 2 classes today, go to work and clean as fast as possible, and come home to my cozy house and read.  I have a cold and I'm not really feeling good at all.  Hope you all feel much better than me :)

Before answering this week's Hop question, I wanted to let you all know that my very first guest post (ever!) will be up this weekend at The Book on the Hill!  I wrote about my relationship with the French language, and I think you should all check it out, and check out the rest of Charlotte's blog too, because it's awesome!  If anyone else is interested in doing a "French Friday" guest post for Charlotte, there is info on her blog.  She's also looking for more bloggers for her Book Blogging Around the World feature, so check that out as well.

This week's Hop question is:
How do you spread the word about your blog?

My answer:
I've tried a few things, but my favorite way to get new followers is just to comment on other blogs.  I love checking out new blogs, but I also love commenting on blogs I've been following for a long time.  If I had the time, I would comment a ton every single day.  Unfortunately my schedule doesn't allow me to do so, but I still try.  The Hop is a great way to find new blogs.  I don't have an account at the Book Blog Ning, but I do browse there on occasion and find some great blogs through that aswell.  I have a Twitter account, but I do not understand Twitter at all, so I'm still kind of figuring out how that whole thing works.

I can't wait to get home this evening and read what everyone else has to say for this week's question!

  1. It is a part-time job commenting on everyone's blogs, isn't it! I'm so glad I cam across your site -- there are two bloggers that host a Paris in July theme every year, and they looove Paris -- swing by to their sites if you get a chance! I'm sure they'd love to meet you!!

  5. lol, I don't understand twitter at all either! Seems like everyone is on it, but i must be an old fogey, i just don't get it. book blogs ning is pretty good, but nothing beats just finding posts you enjoy on blogs and commenting on them.

  6. Hi. Thanks for stopping by on the Hop. Twitter is good for promoting your blog and finding new things but it can get very time consuming. My suggestion, use TweetDeck to group who you follow and save lots of time. I use it for my nature & photo blog to share links but not so much for the book blog.

  7. Good morning thank you for stopping by my blog. I have to say things really turned around when I joined the Book blogs Ning. People have asked how to get Followers, etcc... and people are always nice enough to respond.Sometimes it saves time to make comments there. The only time I get to comment
on others blogs is through the hops!

  8. New follower here!

This hop is a great way too... although I do love when people comment and it seems they've actually read what I wrote!

Also, I noticed... you're reading the Time Traveler's Wife... how do you feel about it? I haven't written a review yet... but I read that book about 2 years ago now? Something like that... and it haunts me still!

  9. How do you like the audiobook you are currently listening to by Margaret Atwood? I love listening to books on CD while I drive to and from my job. I also enjoyed the Time Traveler's Wife. Are you? I thought it took a long time to get "into" though. Is The Singing the first book in that series? I have four books in the series in my library and I can't get kids to check it out...guess I should read it to find out who would be good candidates to read it. Thanks for coming by my blog.

  10. Kelly, Thanks for the recommendation. I just went on-line to my public library and requested an audiobook of the Margaret Atwood book, Of the Flood. I haven't read anything by her for years.

  13. Stopping by from the hop! I'm with you, I think reading and commenting on others blogs is the best way to get quality readers. I've heard people rave about using Twitter for blog promotion so I might give that a try

  15. Thanks for hopping by!
I'll second the Tweet Deck recommendation! It's helped me a lot. When you want to follow a certain conversation on Twitter you need something like Tweet Deck to keep conversations separated.

  16. Hi, thanks for visiting me - sorry it's taken me this long to visit your blog (I agree with Coffee and a Book Chick: commenting can be a part-time job!)

I once got to spend two weeks in Paris when my sister lived there and I loved it, though I'm so intimidated by the language I couldn't even say "hello"! But I'd love to go back and see more. Also, great to hear you're loving The Time Traveler's Wife - it's a great book, I loved it too, though it really made me cry.
