The Classics Spin!

This will be first ever time participating in the Classics Spin.  I decided to finally sign up for the Classics Club just over 2 months ago as a way to motivate myself to get back into reading classics, especially those pesky French ones.  For the spin, we choose 20 books from our list and then on Monday the 18th, a random number from 1 through 20 will be chosen and posted on the Classics Club site, and whatever book has that number below is the book I read.  By January 1st.  So let's begin, shall we?

1. Albert Camus - The Stranger
2. Jane Austen - Mansfield Park
3. Simone de Beauvoir - The Second Sex
4. Charles Dickens - A Tale of Two Cities
5. Gustave Flaubert - Madame Bovary
6. Elizabeth Gaskell - North and South
7. Pierre Choderlos de Laclos - Les liaisons dangereuses
8. Tolkein - The Hobbit
9. Oscar Wilde - The Picture of Dorian Gray
10. Nathaniel Hawthorne - The House of Seven Gables
11. Ernest Hemingway - The Sun Also Rise
12. Louise Labe - Complete Works
13. Daphne du Maurier - Rebecca
14. Emily Bronte - Wuthering Heights
15. Jacques Stephen Alexis-Compere General Soleil
16. Wilkie Collins - The Woman in White
17. Washington Irving - The Legend of Sleepy Hollow
18. Edith Wharton - The Age of Innocence
19. Jane Austen - Pride and Prejudice
20. Nathaniel Hawthorne - The Scarlet Letter

So there you have it. I can't wait to find out what I'll be reading!  I own most of what's on this list, so I won't have any excuses not to read the winner by January 1st :)

**EDIT 11/18**
Looks like I'll be reading Hawthorne's The House of Seven Gables!  I am super excited to get started!

  2. 'Good luck with your first spin. They're a great way to read one of your classics with other like-minded readers.
Remember to link this post back the classics club post, so everyone can find you :-)

  3. The Woman in White has to got to be the winner out of that lot. Though great selection. It's the perfect winter read :-) You do make me giggle with your French novel guilt-fest. It makes me feel so much better because I'm exactly the same. I have a growing collection of lovely Folios and get so excited when I acquire them, only to shy off in favour of books like...say....Orynx & Crake..when it comes to the crunch. *Sigh* It's just laziness really.
